Spark! Places of Innovation comes to Durand, Illinois, from December 2, 2023, through January 6, 2024, hosted by Durand Charm.
Known as the "Village of Volunteers," Durand, Illinois has long been a "spark" of innovation. The residents of Durand don't hesitate to band together to improve and support the community. Hosting Spark! Places of Innovation is no different.
Durand Charm and their community have planned a fabulous companion exhibit and programs to accompany Spark! The companion exhibition features the Durand Fire Department, the state's first municipal volunteer fire department, the growth and development of the local agricultural sector, and the contributions of Solutions Bank to the local economy.
Learn more about Durand, its commitment to community, and its spark for innovation in this article by Matt Meacham, program manager for statewide engagement at Illinois Humanities.
