The Great Lakes Social Studies Journal Fall 2025 Issue Call for Submissions: Due Date January 31, 2026 Our first expanded version of The Great Lakes Social Studies Journal (GLSSJ)–that now includes new editorial board members from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin–will be out into the world in mid-December. We are thrilled to expand our reach to support social studies teaching and learning across the Great Lakes States! We are delighted to announce that we are moving to an open-access online journal. All submissions (including past issues) will be indexed, making them easily accessible through searchable databases. We will continue to be a double-blinded, peer-reviewed journal published online twice a year. Anonymous reviewers will review submissions. For the Spring 2026 issue, we welcome lesson plans, articles, poems, artwork, podcasts, and book reviews from educators (and/or their students) on any topic related to social studies and related disciplines. As a practitioner journal, we welcome submissions that focus on practical applications for K-16 educators. The editorial team is willing to consult with any educator seeking assistance with putting ideas to paper. Videos and images are encouraged as supplemental materials to be included as the publication's interactive elements. Submissions are due January 31, 2026. Submissions should be between 1,000 and 5,000 words (excluding references). Please include a cover page with your name, school/university, email, and a short bio. Videos and images can be sent as separate files or links. Please ensure submissions are free of identifying information in the text for review, except the cover page. Here are the submission guidelines:
